Training & Breeding Philosophy

I was born in Burnaby BC, Canada but raised in Besancon France. At the age of 13 I started volunteering my time on weekends to the local animal shelter. I volunteered long enough to graduate to dog walker, my mission from then on was to come up with at least one friend a week to take out to the shelter so we could offer more dogs the opportunity to have fun. My desire and passion to work with dogs started there. I have always worked with dogs as one of my first "paid job" was with a pioneer in the indoor day-care business in Vancouver BC. Moving on to work for another company offering off leash hikes on our beautiful North Shore Mountains of North Vancouver to Urban dogs. I have always been a advocate to providing our dogs with the mental and physical stimulus needed to keep their minds stable and engaged in a healthy and productive way. My Life are My Dogs.
I was certified in 2005 with Ben Kersen & the Wonder dogs, intensive 3 month course, designed to allow us to work with over 30 different breeds and problem behaviours.
Having over 16 years experience with dogs, this was valuable education allowing me to expend my knowledge and boundaries. My training is centred around building a strong relationship with your dog thru Play & Train. Play & Train is a technique where we use interactive play with the owners in order to make the handler the object of fun, therefore making sure you will always have your dog’s favourite reward with you wherever you go.

Tug-of-war, fetch, wrestling, anything your dog LOVES to do, is used while training turning the learning into a game they love to play. I also combine Leadership with this training technique to set up a balanced life at home where the dogs are confident the owners are in charge and they can just enjoy being dogs. With my German Coolies we enjoy Obedience training, Trick training, Herding, Frisbee, Dock diving and recently we have started on Skijoring training. The most important thing to remember about dogs to ensure a happy, balanced lifestyle for them, is EXERCISE.

Our breeding is centred around the same laws of balance, we strive to provide our dogs with education, socialization, and most importantly "a job". Staying true to my training philosophy, all of our dogs in our breeding program are working dogs: dogs that perform a task and a role in our daily lives. My husband and I work a 127 acres Ranch with Miniature horses, Horses, Sheep and a Dog Adventure Camp, our dogs are involved in every aspect of our Ranch. From working the sheep, to helping hold sheep and horses away while we put out Hay in the winter and social rehabilitation friends for dog aggressive dogs as my co-workers in my training. Our German Coolies are excellent Ambassadors in Canada for Australia and our breeding reflects our respect to the breed and its history as a resilient, smart, fast, healthy and determined farm hand.
